Q: What is The Shout House?

A: The Shout House is a rock ‘n roll dueling piano bar. Dueling pianos are two piano players/singers performing at two, face to face grand pianos in front of two large mirrors performing the classic rock ‘n roll hits from the 1950s to the present. The show is request driven by the audience and with the use of multiple teams, goes non-stop all night. It’s the great music hits of all time combined with great showmanship, energy and comedy.
Our show is Rated-MA, never intended to offend, but may be risqué for some guests. 

Q: What is the age range of the attending patrons?

A: 21 + The Shout House appeals to people of all ages. On any given night you will see people celebrating a 21st birthday along side a 50th birthday. The show is adult oriented however, so don’t bring Grandma if she is going to be offended by a few four letter words.

Q: What are the hours of operation and cover fees?

A: The Shout House is open 6 Days a week. On Fridays and Saturdays the doors open at 6pm and the Pianos begin at 6:30pm. There is a $20 cover fee on Fridays and *Saturdays all night starting at 6pm.  On Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday, the doors open at 7pm and the pianos begin at 8pm. There is NO COVER on Tuesday, Wednesday for walk-ins, $5 reservation fee. On Thursdays & *Sundays, a $10 cover will start promptly at 7pm for walk-in guests. We offer discounted $5 cover on Thursdays to walk-ins who present their student or military I.D, and on Sundays to service industry who presents a pay stub or business card at the front desk. *Sundays before a holiday $15 cover at the door all night, *Saturdays with a guest performance: $25 reservation fee and $25 cover fee for walk-ins.

Q: Is the Shout House a 21 and up venue?

A: YES. The Shout House is ALWAYS 21 and up. So be prepared to show your photo I.D. And no mom, even if you promise to supervise your 18 year old daughter she cannot come in. No exceptions!

Q: Is there a dress code? Rules for bags?

We are a very casual venue. Flip flops and shorts are welcome! But be advised, people pay to see the show, they don’t want to have their vision blocked by your large hat or balloons, so leave the sombrero at home. Also guys, and this should be a general life rule, no one wants to see your pits, so leave the wife beaters and tank tops on the farm. Admittance of purses, bags or backpacks, etc. are subject to search – No weapons allowed.   Anyone resisting inspection will be refused entrance.

Q: Does The Shout House provide parking?

A: Like most downtown venues the Shout House has street parking only,
Here is also a little insider info for you: Meters are free after 8pm. There are also numerous parking structures downtown, We have a partnership with Horton Plaza Parking Garage, and offer guests that show their parking ticket a validation sticker for $12 Flat Rate parking for the first 3 hours. Regular rates apply after 3 hours. As your server or a manager for validation sticker. Park-It-On-Market, located on the corner of 6th and Market is two blocks away and reasonably priced. There is also valet parking located on Market street between 5th and 6th avenue. And remember, the San Diego Gaslamp is home to many forms of entertainment and social gatherings, so plan accordingly if there is a Padre game or convention in town.

Q: When does the piano show end?

A: The show goes all night until last call at about 1:30am so pace yourself! (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday the show may end a little earlier)

Q: Where is The Shout House located?

A: The Shout House is located on 655 4th avenue between Market and G street next to Werewolf and GARAGE Kitchen + Bar.

Q: Does The Shout House serve food?

A: Yes. We offer an entire dinner menu consisting of appetizers, burgers, salads and pizza. Feel free to download it off the website under the Menu tab.

Q: I am thinking about bringing in a bunch of people for a Bachelorette/Birthday party. Do you guys offer any special package deals?

A. Yes we do. Feel free to stop reading now and go to the VIP PACKAGES portion of the website. There you will find a breakdown of what is included in each package. Basically our VIP packages range from $50-$80 a person and include no line, cover included, no wait, some sort of alcohol, appetizers, decorations, on stage recognition. All packages can be customized to fit your needs and are a lot of fun. Not to mention they guarantee you a spot right in the center of the room. The Shout House really is the perfect place to celebrate any occasion.

Q: It’s my friend’s birthday; can I bring in a cake?

A: Yes. Feel free to bring in your own cake and we won’t even charge you a cutting fee.

Q: It’s my anniversary and I want to bring in a special bottle of wine for my date. Is that ok?

A: We understand that after a few months or years with the same person you may need to impress them with expensive bottles of wine to keep them around… But sorry, No outside alcohol.

Q: What kind of drink specials does The Shout House offer?

A: The Shout House is very affordable compared to the other venues downtown. Please refer to the daily specials page to see exact pricing and specials.

Q: I would like to have the piano players perform for my company party in Palm Springs. How do I make that happen?

A: Our dueling piano show is available for off-site events. Let us custom make a show for your party (corporate parties, Weddings, any occasion.) If you have ever experienced a dueling piano club, you know that the material can sometimes be adult oriented. We guarantee our talent will perform to the standards that you or your company prefers. Q: I’m the designated driver, do you have any incentives for me?

A: Any identified designated driver, notifying our service staff or manager of such, will receive a complimentary free admission pass to The Shout! House in order to return when someone else might be driving them.

Q: The Shout House is a perfect fit for me. I think I would like to work there. How do I send in my resume?

A: The Shout House is always looking for new talent. If you are a piano player please send your resume to Jon Coyle at Jon@theshouthouse.com along with any other demos or promo materials you have. As far as other front of the house positions, please E-mail Shayne@theshouthouse.com . We are especially interested in staff that have some sort of musical or dance experience.

Q: WHAT ARE YOUR COVID GUIDELINES?

A: We adhere to all CDC guidelines for COVID, additionally, all of our staff have been fully vaccinated; we ask that if you have not been vaccinated to please wear a mask for the safety of our staff and fellow patrons.

FAQ ABOUT RESERVATIONS

 

Q: How do I make reservations?

A: We take all regular reservations through the website for parties of 2 to 24 on our RESERVATIONS PAGE. Be ready to provide your credit card information when you make the reservation.

Q: What is the likelyhood I will be able to get a table if I do not make reservations?

A: On the weekends we hold some tables for non reservations. If you arrive when the doors open at 6pm on Friday or 6pm on Saturday night you are more likely to receive a table, but we do fill up quickly. There is standing room available always but you may have to wait in a line if we are at capacity.

Q: Do you have a wait list for days that are already booked?

A: Yes! If you put your name on the wait list we will contact you if we have cancellations. 

Q: When will my card be charged for my reservation?

A:  Credit Cards are charged the day the reservation is made.

Q: What if I want to add people to my reservation?

A. We do our best to accommodate everyone. If we have room you can call us at (619) 231-6700 OR reply to your confirmation E-mail, and we will add to your table. The earlier you call or E-mail and let us know, the more likely this can happen.

Q: Can I make reservations after 7pm?

A. You can make reservations until 7:45pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays (besides Sundays before a holiday). On Fridays the latest you can make reservations is 6:45pm, and Saturdays 6:30pm. Unlike most venues downtown, The Shout House is already very busy by 7pm, and since we are a live music venue, we don’t want to perform for empty seats. We take all regular reservations through the website.

Q: What if I need to cancel my reservation?

A: You may call and cancel your reservation for a full refund up to 48 hours before your scheduled time. If you call within less than 48 hours but before opening that evening, you do not get a refund but you can use that reservation for another time. The number is (619) 231-6700.

Q: What is your ID Policy?

√ Everyone entering The Shout House must be 21.
√ Anyone appearing to be under the age of 40 must present an ID.
√ We accept the following IDs as proof of age:
• Current State Issued Driver’s License or ID Card with photo and physical description.
• Current U.S. Government issued ID cards with photo and physical description.
• Current U.S. Passports
• Foreign Passports. (No Foreign Drivers License or Passport cards)
• We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.
